Position: Network Security Engineer
Location: Downtown Toronto (Hybrid)
Job Type: Permanent, full-time
We are seeking a skilled Network Security Engineer to join our client's team and ensure the safety and integrity of the organization's network infrastructure. As a Network Security Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security measures that protect systems and data from security breaches and cyber threats.
Responsibilities:

Design and implement security measures, such as firewalls, IDS/IPS, VPNs, and WAFs, to protect network infrastructure.

Review and enhance network architecture to meet security standards and best practices.

Monitor network traffic for unusual or suspicious activities, identify potential security threats, and respond to security incidents.

Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and mitigate risks in the network.

Work closely with IT teams to provide guidance on security requirements and integrate security into network projects and initiatives.
Requirements:

Proficiency with network security tools, including firewalls (e.g., Cisco, Fortinet), IDS/IPS, VPNs, and network monitoring tools.

Experience in network protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, SSL/TLS, IPsec) and implementing security solutions for routers, switches, and other network devices.

Experience with automation scripting (Python, PowerShell) is a plus.

Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to detect and respond to network security incidents

Certifications such as CISSP, CEH, CCNP Security, or similar are highly desirable.
