Facilities Support Staff - Part Time

General Purpose Duties and Responsibilities

Perform regular building inspections and safety/security tours of the McLaughlin Library.
Address user and staff inquiries and provide assistance when needed.
Act as the first point of contact for security-related incidents, including theft, vandalism, emergencies, and disruptive behavior, and escalate as necessary to Campus Safety Office (CSO) or Physical Resources.
Shipping and receiving of library collections and equipment.
Supervise the Receiving loading dock area and assist with maintenance work orders and general building tasks.
Repair or report issues with furniture, equipment, computers, and other library facilities to relevant Library staff and campus departments.
Complete general maintenance tasks such as photocopier upkeep, moving furniture, and assisting with collections management.

Requirements

Secondary school graduation with relevant 12 months of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Proven ability to manage security and safety issues calmly and professionally.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a busy, fast-paced environment.
Basic technical knowledge, including familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Teams, email), and troubleshooting of electronic, mechanical, and computer systems.
Knowledge of library equipment such as printers, security systems, and microfilm readers is considered an asset.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Additional Requirements:

Must be able to frequently lift up to 40 pounds (18 kg) daily, depending on task.
Flexibility to work varied shifts during busy periods (evenings and weekends).
