WHERE YOU COME IN Communications Intern
Toronto (North York)
What You Will Do Event Communications \& Marketing Support:
- Assist in developing communication materials for regional fundraising events, including drafting key messages and creating social media content.
- Help organize and coordinate event materials, ensuring they adhere to brand guidelines.
Media Relations Support
- Help build and maintain media contacts by creating media lists and assisting in the distribution of press materials.
- Monitor local media coverage using tools like Meltwater and assist in preparing reports for internal stakeholders.
Content Development \& Management
- Write and assist in the creation of engaging content for the Foundation's website and social media channels.
- Support the organization of multimedia content, including written, video and photo assets from events or wish stories.
Administrative \& General Support
- Support internal communications processes, such as updating content on the Foundation's website and managing photo/video archives.
- Assist in the coordination and execution of cross-functional projects, ensuring timely completion.
- Participate in team meetings, contributing ideas and suggestions for upcoming projects.
What You Bring
- Education in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field (or working towards).
- Current student or a recent graduate.
- Some related experience is preferred.
- Must be between 18 and 30 years of age (requirement of Canada Summer Jobs funding).
- Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or refugee to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (requirement of Canada Summer Jobs funding).
- Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Familiarity with media monitoring tools, social media platforms and content creation tools is preferred (e.g., Meltwater, Canva, social media scheduling tools).
- Strong interest in nonprofit communications and brand management.
- Innovative, creative, resourceful self-starter; you enjoy challenging yourself.
- A clear Criminal Background Check will be required.
YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Hybrid work environment, requiring working in the office 2 days per week and working from a home office 3 days per week. Occasional evening or weekend work for events or media opportunities.
Physical/Mental Effort
- Work with multiple demands and changing/overlapping priorities.
