We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to lead our accounting functions across both countries.
Position Overview
The Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all accounting operations, financial reporting, compliance, and internal controls for U.S. and Canadian entities. This role requires a highly analytical and detail-oriented professional with expertise in multi-entity and multi-currency accounting, tax compliance, and financial statement preparation. We are looking for a proactive leader---someone who takes initiative, anticipates problems before they arise, and gets things done without needing to be told. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage all aspects of general ledger accounting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with U.S. GAAP.
- Prepare and review financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for both U.S. and Canadian entities.
- Ensure timely month-end and year-end closings, including reconciliations of accounts, intercompany transactions, and consolidation.
- Maintain and improve accounting processes, policies, and internal controls to support operational efficiency.
Tax \& Compliance
- Manage all tax filings, including U.S. federal and state taxes, Canadian GST/HST/PST, and corporate tax compliance.
- Ensure compliance with all financial regulations in both the U.S. and Canada, coordinating with external auditors and tax consultants as needed.
- Handle multi-jurisdictional payroll taxes, sales tax filings, and regulatory reporting.
Cash Management \& Forecasting
- Monitor cash flow, accounts payable, and accounts receivable across all entities.
- Work closely with leadership to develop and maintain financial forecasts and budgets.
- Optimize foreign exchange strategies for cross-border transactions.
- Lead and develop the accounting team, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including Finance, HR, and Operations, to support business initiatives.
- Act as a key financial advisor to executives, providing insights on financial health and risk management.
Qualifications \& Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.
- Knowledge: Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and Canadian ASPE/IFRS accounting principles.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks) and advanced Excel skills.
- Compliance: Experience with tax compliance and regulations in both the U.S. and Canada.
- Soft Skills: Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership abilities.
- Bonus: Experience in the media, entertainment, or digital content industry.
