Position Summary:
Working as a member of Dr. Monica Molinaro's research team, the research assistant will work on research projects, where duties will include completing and amending ethics applications, qualitative data collection and management, data analyses, analytics, reporting, and knowledge mobilization activities for health professions and health sciences education, health care systems, and health care policy research. In particular, Dr. Molinaro's research aims to understand moral complexity in health care. Dr. Molinaro is seeking a motivated and energetic team player with excellent research skills.
The research assistant will provide support of a routine nature related to the start-up, collection and review of data for research projects. Duties will also include tasks to support the conduct of research projects, such as data collection, data management, and qualitative analyses, as well as additional duties related to conducting qualitative research as required.
Accountabilities to Dr. Molinaro may include:
- Assist with the development of study protocols and study materials for ethics applications.
- Assist with the development of study materials for grant applications.
- Participate in qualitative coding and analysis under direction of supervisor, prepare summaries.
- Assist with obtaining data and information from databases for others to use in the development of presentations, scientific papers and reports.
- Seek guidance and direction from Dr. Molinaro.
Qualifications:
Master's degree or equivalent in a health professions/health sciences education related field.
Completion of in a research methods course that addresses qualitative research methodology, and previous qualitative research experience is required.
Additional Assets:
- Experience with qualitative research skills (transcription, conduct interviews, focus groups, clean and code qualitative data).
- Experience with knowledge translation (synthesize research knowledge and develop plain language research summaries for research projects).
- Ability to balance multiple tasks, projects and competing priorities.
Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level # 4 on a scale of 0-4.
