Position OverviewOur client, the United Jewish Appeal of Toronto (UJA), is currently experiencing a time of growth and change. They are seeking an experienced and business-minded Vice President to join their finance function.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Vice President will oversee the organization's complex finance operations and be a strategic business partner to external and internal stakeholders to improve decision-making and assess the trajectory of ongoing initiatives. This is an ideal role for a seasoned financial professional keen to be directly impactful within the community in Canada and globally. The chosen candidate will be a dynamic leader with experience guiding the financial operations of an intricate organization with a complex structure.
They will be an effective communicator with the confidence to create and drive relationships with strategic stakeholders and to establish financial security to meet the organization's strategic objectives for the community. Role ResponsibilitiesPartner with the CFO in the organization's strategic planning process. Lead the annual budget process and forecasting for the organization.
Be a business partner to the organization -- providing financial strategies and guidance. Enhance the metrics, guidelines and standards for evaluation of efficiency and return. Review, analyze and evaluate finance policies and procedures and identify opportunities for improvement.
Oversee the reporting to the Budget \& Finance and Audit committees and the annual audit process. Review and enhance controls and processes to protect and preserve the assets of the organization and mitigate risk. Ensure the organization complies with internal (governance) and external (CRA) requirements.
Recruit, motivate, develop and retain talent to deliver impactful results; champion a flexible, agile and inclusive work environment, prioritizing health and well-being of team. Desired QualificationsPost-secondary degree in accounting or related field, or equivalent experience.10 years' relevant work experience, including 5 in a senior financial management role. Previous experience managing and developing talent; passionate about helping people learn and grow.
Strong mentorship and management skills and ability to influence and engage direct and indirect reports and peers. Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a high-growth organization. Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict-resolution skills.
Ability to manage complex projects and budgets, working collaboratively with staff as well as with multiple stakeholders to deliver results. Please note that at present, legal eligibility to work in Canada is a prerequisite for this role.
