About the Opportunity:
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Baker on behalf of our client, a well-established bakery in Toronto. This position is ideal for someone with a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and a love for creating high-quality baked goods. The successful candidate will play a key role in daily production and maintaining consistency, freshness, and presentation standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Baking \& Production
- Prepare and bake a wide variety of breads, pastries, and other baked goods
- Follow recipes and production schedules to ensure product consistency
- Monitor baking process and adjust ovens or ingredients as needed
Quality Control
- Maintain high standards of quality, taste, and presentation
- Ensure freshness by rotating stock and minimizing waste
Food Safety \& Sanitation
- Maintain a clean and organized work environment
- Follow all food safety and hygiene regulations
- Ensure tools and equipment are sanitized and maintained
Inventory \& Supplies
- Assist with inventory checks and inform management of supply needs
- Properly store ingredients and supplies to maintain freshness
Team Collaboration
- Work closely with kitchen and service teams to meet production needs
- Support training of new staff as needed
Work Schedule:
- Early morning or daytime shifts
- Full-time availability including weekends and holidays
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 6 months of baking experience (within Canada)
- Minimum 3 years of baking experience (outside Canada)
- English proficiency with CLB 6 or higher
- Knowledge of traditional and contemporary baking techniques
- Strong attention to detail and time management skills
- Ability to lift heavy ingredients and stand for extended periods
Compensation and Benefits:
- Competitive hourly wage: $18.00 - $21.00
