Position Overview
Autodesk is looking for a Software Development Manager to join the Autodesk Platform Services and Emerging Technologies organization. The team delivers high-value, exabyte-scale and cloud data platform components powering desktop, mobile, and web products. This enables our product teams to build cohesive in-product data experiences, our partners to integrate and expand our data, and our end-users to work with their data across all Autodesk products. You will report to the Senior Manager, Software Development Manager based in Canada and the role is a hybrid based in Montreal or Toronto. You will work closely with product managers and plan all engineering activities, including technical investigations, feature development, bug fixes and customer escalations. You will be central to our success: a collaborator who bridges business and engineering requirements by being responsible for team performance and staff development. Responsibilities
- Recruit and nurture the best talent to develop a top-performing team
- Accountable for results and initiatives for the teams. Plan and manage the successful completion of projects to fulfill goals. Work with the team to break down complex technical requirements into logical execution slices. Help the team to identify, solve and/or escalate dependencies and roadblocks
- Lead team to support customers and solve customer incidents and issues promptly. Help the team to understand the importance of customer-centricity and build customer empathy
- Guide team to build Customer Trust in the service solutions, including best-in-class resiliency, performance, scalability, and reliability. Advocate and build engineering and service excellence in our development
- Educate team members on how their work aligns with organizational goals
- Lead, provide technical guidance, and mentor developers to develop their careers and to achieve individual success. Up-skill developers to meet organizational needs and individual career goals
- Develop Autodesk culture values in the teams. Enhance engineering efficiency by observing the team, identifying opportunities, and influencing the improvement
- Find the right approach when faced with uncertainties and support teams in navigating changes
- Manage team's performance to ensure successful project completion. Inspire, motivate and coach team members to achieve maximum productivity, creativity and efficiency
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical field
- 8+ years working experience in software industry involving design and development of cloud/server applications and services
- 3+ years of experience leading development teams managing team members, from Junior to Principal engineers, from Developers to QAs
- Must have fundamentals in technology with Server-side development services in Java, AWS, REST. Experience with web technology stack, cloud computing, and cloud database technologies. Understand services architecture, development, and testing
- Experience with software development lifecycle, principles, practices, and methodologies, and engineering best practices
- Experience working on a scrum team developing cloud services; experience and well-versed in leading in an Agile development environment. Understand Agile and Scaled Agile
- Experience managing complex software projects with multiple dependencies
- Experience hiring and onboarding new talent and setting up teams for success. Conflict resolution skills
- Experience stating complex subjects simply for a variety of audiences
- Experience dealing with changes while overseeing projects, from business to technical requirements in all phases in the development cycle
- Willingness to collaborate with colleagues across different time zones which may require limited work outside normal working hours
