Job Description: What will you do?
- Mentor and manage a team of SQL Server database administrators who support the suite of client applications and projects.
- Knowledge of the SQL Server Engine, Data Management and Business Intelligence tools (SSIS, SSMS, SSRS, SSAS) for SQL2016 version or greater
- Mentor staff with varying proficiencies in diverse technologies and in a multi-platform environment.
- Participate in yearly employee performance reviews.
- Guide employees withy career paths, training and growth opportunities.
- Some experience in the management and support of all databases and related software for SLF's mission critical SQL Server and Sybase applications. This includes performance and capacity monitoring, query tuning and optimization.
- Engage with architects and infrastructure team to refine the ongoing strategy for the SQL Server and Sybase databases and possibly participate in architectural change projects.
- Provide team with leadership and direction in support of crisis management, business continuity, disaster recovery, and incident response in a worldwide business environment.
- Ensure adherence to company policies for audit and security requirements.
- Collaborate and work closely with several different functional areas to provide all the necessary support for every database requirement.
- Participate in the Data Management Services budget process with respect to anticipated client application demand.
- Work closely with application owners to deliver database solutions.
- May work with Business Unit leaders, at all levels, in proactive advancement of database technology order to leverage new technologies for business advancement.
- Support technology solutions and approaches that position Data Management Services for improved database activities including reporting, without impact to application performance or data integrity.
What do you need to succeed?

Expert knowledge of SQL Server database technologies and knowledge of other DBMS, in particular Microsoft SQL Server, and Sybase.

Excellent/strong leadership, people management, presentation, consulting, negotiation, interpersonal, communication, motivational, organizational, and planning skills to mentor a team of systems specialists who are serving a variety of business units.

Experience with Employee performance evaluations.

Knowledge of Dev/Ops and automation tools such as Ansible, Jenkins, etc.

Strong business acumen and knowledge/appreciation for a wide variety of application and infrastructure technologies and processes.

Ability to develop strong relationships with all levels of management and staff.

Capable of summarizing concepts clearly, concisely and accurately.
