Duties
- Complete swallowing assessments, communicate recommendations to the patient, family and team and follow-up to ensure successful implementation
- Assess communication (speech and language), recommend interventions and provide treatment
- Provide patient and family education and counselling
- Provide staff, student and volunteer education and training
- Develop and maintain advances in practice related to the profession, including participation in current projects and initiatives to support improved swallowing and speech services
- Provide clinical supervision to a Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) as required
- Complete timely and thorough clinical documentation
- Complete clinical workload statistics
- Participate in the evaluation of clinical practices
- Ability to work in a manner that exemplifies the centre's core values and helps patients get their life back
Qualifications
- Ability to collaborate effectively with patients, families and all levels of staff
- Demonstrated strong interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and be self-directed, while collaborating and seeking direction appropriately
- Evidence of good performance history and attendance record
