Position: Surgical Care Nurse

As a member of a multidisciplinary healthcare team, the Surgical Care Nurse functions as an experienced, self-directed nurse by assessing, planning, providing, and evaluating nursing care for assigned patients.
Qualifications: Education, Training, and Experience
- Registration with BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant;
- Post-basic education in surgical/ambulatory care nursing on a unit-specific basis; or
- An equivalent combination of education and training;
- Up to two (2) years recent, related experience on a unit-specific basis;
- Basic Life Support, Level C.

- Demonstrate sound judgment, observation, and patient assessment skills;

- Prioritize and organize patient demands and care needs;
- Operate related equipment;
- Remain calm and respond appropriately in stressful and emergency situations;
- Work as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team;
- Foster good public relations;
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing;
- Physically able to perform the duties of the position;
- Work independently, with limited supervision.
