Board Treasurer/Chair of Finance Committee
Quest Theatre (Calgary/Moh'kinsstis) is seeking a volunteer Treasurer/Chair of our Finance Committee and a member of our Board Executive. Our ideal candidate is a CPA with 10+ years of experience, based in Calgary, and passionate about supporting Quest's vision, mission, and values.
For nearly 40 years, Quest Theatre has nurtured young people through exceptional theatre adventures, creating works that encourage exploration of identity, importance, and societal contribution. We do theatre WITH and FOR young people, emphasizing the vital role of arts exposure in personal growth, character development, and belonging.
Role Description
Major responsibilities include:
Treasurer
- Oversee all aspects of the Society's finances, ensuring financial health aligned with Board goals.
- Maintain proper financial documentation.
- Ensure CRA reporting compliance.
- Oversee audits.
- Present financial reports at Board meetings and the AGM.
- Assist with financial planning, both short- and long-term.
Finance Committee Chair
- Schedule and lead committee meetings.
- Guide the committee in setting annual goals.
- Report committee activities and progress at Board meetings and the AGM.
Finance Committee Responsibilities
- Review financial reports regularly with Management.
- Oversee budgeting and financial risk management.
- Monitor internal controls and compliance with GAAP, legal, and regulatory standards.
- Evaluate financial statements and integrity.
- Manage annual auditor selection and oversight.
- Ensure transparent financial communication among Management, the Committee, auditors, and the Board.
Time Commitment
Finance Committee meets virtually about 6 times/year; Board meets in person about 6 times/year. Additional meetings or tasks may be required.
