Bird Stairs is seeking a conscientious and motivated candidate to fill the role of Accountant at our Fredericton, NB location. This is a permanent, full-time on-site role. The successful candidate must be detail-oriented, organized, and able to perform with minimal supervision.
Relocation support may be available for the right candidate.
WHEN YOU JOIN US YOU WILL BE
- Supporting the month-end close process by completing journal entries, account analysis, and reporting tasks
- Assisting in the preparation and consolidation of financial statements, as well as monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting
- Supporting the annual budgeting and forecasting process
- Coordinating and supporting external year-end audits and working directly with auditors to ensure accurate and timely completion
- Acting as the key point of contact for internal financial inquiries and issue resolution
- Maintaining and overseeing the fixed asset schedule
- Managing and administering the Concur expense reporting platform
- Performing general ledger reviews and assisting with internal audit activities
- Participating in payroll-related tasks and support
- Occasional evening and weekend work as required
- Capable of lifting up to 50-pound boxes as needed
OUR IDEAL CANDIDATE
- CPA designation or near completion required, with 3--5 years of experience in finance or accounting
- Proven experience with audits, either from a firm or coordinating internal business audits
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; high attention to detail and accuracy
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel); experience with ERP systems (Microsoft D365 or SYSPRO preferred)
- Familiarity with ASPE standards is preferred
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Adaptable and self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; professional and personable demeanor
- Reliable, with a strong attendance record and valid driver's license for occasional branch travel
- Able to work effectively under pressure with frequent interruptions and minimal supervision
