Description
Supporting the modernization of the Social Assistance reporting platform (Legacy Cognos system), the Senior Business Analyst will work alongside the agile product team to review existing data model and redesign to be scalable and flexible to meet current program and Ministry needs for analytical and operational reporting.
Responsibilities
- Backlog Management: Collaborating with the Product Owner to prioritize and refine the product backlog, ensuring that user stories are well-defined and ready for development.
- Sprint Planning: Participating in sprint planning meetings to help define the scope and objectives of each sprint, ensuring alignment with business goals.
- Requirement Elicitation: Working closely with stakeholders and the development team to gather and clarify requirements, often through user stories and acceptance criteria.
- Continuous Improvement: Engaging in sprint retrospectives to identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance team performance and product quality.
- User Story Development: Writing and refining user stories, ensuring they are clear, concise, and actionable for the development team.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Facilitating communication between stakeholders and the development team to ensure that the delivered solutions meet business needs.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintaining up-to-date documentation and providing regular reports on project progress and performance metrics.
Skills and Requirements
Business Analysis and Problem-Solving Skills - 35%
- Experience in requirement elicitation, documentation, gap analysis, evaluation of alternative solutions, UI/UX design, and making recommendations. (MUST HAVE)
- Experience facilitating sessions with diverse audiences for requirements discovery using methodologies like Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid. (MUST HAVE)
- Experience in writing user stories in Azure DevOps. (MUST HAVE)
- Ability to gather information on client problems and translate needs into design models and concepts.
- Evaluate requirements, review solution options, assess cost/benefit, and review system design impacts.
- Translate technical terminology into business language.
Technical Knowledge and Expertise - 25%
- Experience leading business transformation and solution design initiatives focusing on business architecture and UI/UX.
- Experience with enterprise data warehouses, data management, and data modeling concepts (Kimball and Inmon).
- Knowledge of enterprise architecture in Azure platform, data warehousing, and related technologies. (MUST HAVE)
- Familiarity with web-based technologies, data-mining/reporting tools (e.g., IBM CURAM), and system development lifecycle methodologies.
- Knowledge of ITIL processes, SQL, and emerging IT trends like cloud computing.
- Understanding accessibility standards such as AODA and WCAG 2.1.
Organizational and Project Management Skills - 20%
- Project planning, development, and control skills.
- Knowledge of task estimation, scheduling, and documentation for knowledge transfer.
Communication and Interpersonal Skills - 20%
- Effective communication with stakeholders, preparing documentation, and explaining system development options.
