Position Summary Professional Practice Leader, Rehabilitation Sciences, Interprofessional Practice
On a practical level, you will
- Provide expert advice on corporate practices and processes pertaining to OT, PT, OTA/PTA.
- Monitor and interpret relevant changes in standards, legislation, and scope of practice as it pertains to OT, PT, OTA/PTA within the organization with regards to impact and implementation
- Chair practice-related committees as required and provide expert advice regarding sensitive OT, PT, OTA/PTA matters.
- Lead systems that address and monitor evidence-based practices in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Develop and implement education plans, in collaboration with Clinical Nurse Educators (CNEs), Simulation Manager, Clinical Team Managers (CTMs) and other internal stakeholders to meet educational requirements for practice competencies as required.
- Design effective systems and processes, with our academic partners, to develop, coordinate and evaluate student education and clinical placements.
- Lead the integration of evidence-based practice into policies, guidelines and standards of Care for OT, PT, OTA/PTA practice and interprofessional care in partnership with the organization's leadership.
- Collaborate with academic partners to develop and participate in relevant research, as defined by our patient population.
- Provide leadership on key projects related to patient safety and care including OT, PT, OTA/PTA initiatives and clinical education.
Qualifications
- Master of Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy degree.
- Registered member in good standing with either the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO) or College of Physiotherapists of Ontario (CPO).
- Cross-appointed or eligible for cross appointment to either the Department of Occupational Science \& Occupation Therapy or the Department of Physiotherapy, University of Toronto or other accredited University.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in clinical practice relevant to NYGH with specific current clinical knowledge in an acute care practice setting.
- Passionate and demonstrated knowledge of OT or PT practice within a person centred care (PCC) environment including experience with PCC approaches.
- Excellent communication skills, including verbal, written, and active listening.
- Strong leadership and problem-solving skills and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to liaise and communicate with external stakeholders and internal staff members at all levels in a professional and courteous manner.
- Self-directed and can deal with multiple stakeholders while managing multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to use effective decision-making within a complex clinical environment.
- Highly skilled and experienced in fostering a culture of effective teaching and learning.
- Demonstrated participation in relevant research activities, with the ability to cultivate a best-practice environment for OT, PT, OTA/PTA clinicians.
- Member of the Ontario Society for Occupational Therapy (OSOT) or Ontario Physiotherapy Association (OPA).
- Bilingualism in French/English an asset.
What We Offer Working at NYGH This is a Full-Time position, 75 hours bi-weekly, 8 hours, day shifts, in the Interprofessional Practice department.
