Position Summary
Department / Research Program: Departments of Medicine and Neurology \& Neurosurgery / Metabolic Disorders and Complications (MeDiC) Program
The Brain Metabolism lab is seeking candidates with a bachelor's degree in Psychology, Biomedical Science, or Neuroscience for a Junior Assistant position. The successful candidate will report to Prof. Dana Small, a Professor in the Department of Medicine and Neurology \& Neurosurgery, and Chairholder of the Canada Excellence Research Chair in Metabolism and the Brain.
The incumbent will be involved in subject recruitment, stimulus preparation, and screening/evaluation sessions. Responsibilities also include equipment maintenance, inventory management, and procurement of laboratory supplies. Additionally, the candidate will provide administrative support to Prof. Small, including organizing meetings, managing schedules, and updating CVs.
General Duties
- Recruit and screen potential study participants and conduct intake assessments and experimental sessions.
- Manage equipment and supplies inventory related to the study and place orders as needed.
- Monitor lab software and licenses.
- Collect data from participants and enter it into electronic systems.
- Create stimuli, such as test meals and flavor stimuli for sensory testing, which requires basic wet-lab skills that can be learned on-the-job; prior knowledge is an asset.
- Provide administrative support and perform other administrative tasks as requested.
