Job Title: Controller
As our Controller, you will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial aspects of our development projects. You will be responsible for managing the financial planning, reporting, and analysis for our real estate development activities. This includes budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, financial modeling, and project cost tracking.
Key Qualifications/Experience:
- Qualifications: University degree in related discipline and CPA designation
- Minimum 8 years related experience in real estate development and construction industries
- Minimum of 3 years Supervisory/Management experience
- Thorough understanding of accounting principles and functions
- Experience with Accounting management in multi-faceted operation, including Accounting, Corporate Finance, Audit, Developing Budgets, Managing Processes, Financial Software, Developing Standards, Tracking Budget Expenses, Analyzing Information and People Management Skills.
- Experience using Accounting software, such as: Microsoft Excel, Dynamics 365, Payroll, Quickbooks, or other.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for Financial Accounting for all real estate development projects
- Ensure all monthly financial and management reporting is delivered accurately and on a timely basis
- Monitor project cash flows and coordinate with lenders for monthly draws
- Ensure consolidated records related to all development projects are kept up to date
- Ensure consistent and appropriate accounting records and standards are maintained Establish and maintain internal controls over accounting records
- Assist with preparing month-end bank reconciliations, journal entries, and support working papers and quarterly financial statements
- Setup and maintenance of project accounting, billing, A/R, A/P, payroll, GL, WIP, etc.
- Cash management, including receipts, payments, A/R collection and A/P management
- Accurate and timely corporate and payroll tax compliance including WSIB, EHT, HST, Corporate Tax, CPP, EI, etc.
- Developing and maintaining planning, budgeting and reporting systems
- Preparation and review of all external financial reporting (Bank, CRA, etc.)
- Ensure all financial reporting is timely, accurate and relevant
- Support data standardization and improve reporting templates
