Position: Bilingual Field Claims Investigator / Claim Recovery Agent
Location: Hybrid (75% remote, 25% fieldwork)
Compensation: $80 USD / $116 CAD flat rate per investigation (additional rates for distances over 60 miles / 97 km and 100 miles / 160.93 km) plus commission (estimated annual $55,000 USD / $80,000 CAD)

Phoenix Loss Control ("Phoenix" or "PLC") is a U.S.-based business services provider in the cable, telecom, and utilities sector, specializing in outside plant damage investigation, recovery, and prevention. We assist clients in recovering costs from damages to infrastructure such as underground fiber optic or gas lines. PLC employs over 120 people, servicing major cable and telecom operators nationwide, including Comcast, Spectrum, AT\&T, and Google. We are expanding rapidly and seek talented individuals to join our growth journey.
POSITION SUMMARY
Outside Plant Damage (OPD) costs exceed $30 million USD / $43 million CAD annually. The role involves investigating damages, collecting evidence, reporting findings, and supporting claim recovery efforts. Candidates must be inquisitive, self-driven, and comfortable in a dynamic environment. Bilingual in French and English is required for effective communication.
- Conduct on-site investigations
- Write detailed, concise reports based on evidence, witness statements, and estimates
- Maintain knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
- Respond promptly to damage calls
- Complete investigations within 7 days and collaborate with claims managers for recovery
- Respond to damages during business hours, with first response on the same day if received during work hours
- Accurately record all related activities
Claim Recovery Duties
- Review claim info, identify liable parties, and facilitate resolution
- Gather costs and prepare invoices
- Communicate with liable parties and insurance carriers
- Negotiate settlements and resolve conflicts
Required Skills and Capabilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Ability to operate independently and prioritize tasks
- Adaptability, logical thinking, and attention to detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Interpersonal skills for field interviews
- Reliable internet, smartphone, and vehicle with insurance and license
- Safety gear (vest, boots, hard hat)
- Bilingual in French and English
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in telecommunications, utilities, or billing
- Knowledge of underground utility locating
- Investigation, inspection, or claims experience
- Legal, military, or criminal justice background
- Location flexibility at manager's discretion

Claim Recovery Agent (Subrogation Adjuster) -- 1099
Location: Remote, US residents only
Compensation: Commission-based on successful recoveries
Schedule: Flexible, during business hours
