NEUF's healthcare portfolio is growing quickly. As such, we have an opening for Architect -- Healthcare Specialist. In this pivotal role, you will be a key leader in the design and delivery of significant healthcare projects, ensuring efficiency in clinical planning and facility design. You will work closely with interdisciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders to shape projects that meet both operational needs and long-term patient care goals. This is a valuable opportunity to build on NEUF's healthcare expertise and contribute to the evolution of healthcare design in Canada, while mentoring and leading teams working on both small and large-scale projects. The position is a hybrid, open to working in our offices in Toronto or Ottawa.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the architectural design of healthcare projects, ensuring alignment with best practices in clinical planning and patient-centered care.
- Provide strategic design leadership for hospital, acute care, ambulatory care, and long-term care projects.
- Conduct detailed clinical planning and programming, integrating operational workflows and evidence-based design principles.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals, consultants, and contractors to ensure compliance with Ontario healthcare regulations and Ministry of Health and Ministry of Long-Term Care standards.
- Guide project teams through all phases, from concept to construction documentation, ensuring technical excellence and constructability.
- Perform cost-benefit analyses and risk assessments related to design decisions and facility planning.
- Engage with senior leadership, clients, and regulatory bodies to navigate project approvals and optimize design strategies.
- Mentor and develop emerging architects, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence in healthcare design.
QUALIFICATIONS \& EXPERIENCE:
- 8 years of experience in architectural design, with a strong focus on healthcare projects.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture.
- Registered Architect (OAA preferred) or eligible for registration.
- Deep understanding of clinical workflows, hospital design, and healthcare facility requirements.
- Knowledge of Ontario's healthcare design regulations, including CSA Z8000 and Ministry of Health requirements.
- Proven experience leading small and large-scale healthcare projects from early design through construction administration.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, including hospital administrators, clinical staff, engineers, and developers.
- Proficiency in Revit and BIM workflows.
- Strong business acumen, with an ability to contribute to business development, client relationships, and proposal development.
