This is a unique chance to be a part of cutting-edge research in plant breeding and seed development. You will gain valuable experience supporting both molecular lab operations and greenhouse/field activities, with a focus on canola breeding.
This is a temporary role perfect for science graduates looking to grow their hands-on research experience in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities:DNA extraction and lab work (PCR setup, molecular biology techniques)Greenhouse tasks: planting, plant care (staking, tying, pruning)Leaf tissue collection in greenhouse/field
Controlled crossing: CMS and emasculation techniques
Plant harvesting, threshing, grain cleaning
Seed inventory tasks: labeling, weighing, packaging
Seed treatment application (as needed)Field preparation and maintenance tasks (as needed)Support for data collection and note-taking
Possible driving of company vehicle for work-related tasks
Assist with cage constructions and other field prep work Required Qualifications:Bachelor's Degree in a Science field required (Biology preferred)Prior lab experience, especially with DNA isolation, PCR, and lab automation
Familiarity with molecular biology techniques
Strong computer proficiency and organizational skills
Attention to detail with the ability to multitask
Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Self-motivated, adaptable, and team-oriented
Ability to work in hot environments (30--35°C) and perform physically demanding tasks
Must have reliable transportation (no public transit available)Must be safety-conscious and willing to work overtime when required
