YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES AS A CORPORATE LEGAL COUNSEL:
Provide legal counsel and on a wide range of matters, including contract management, commercial and industrial leasing matters, acquisition and sales of commercial, industrial, multi-family buildings and vacant land
Coordinate with financial institution representatives to establish and close property transactions
Conduct legal research and analysis to ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and municipal laws and regulations
Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other documents
Collaborate with executive leadership to develop and implement effective legal strategies and risk management policies
Represent company as lead council in preparing and completing litigation files
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR IN A CORPORATE LEGAL COUNSEL:
Bachelor of Law or Juris Doctor Degree
Active membership in good standing with the Law Society of Manitoba
5+ years experience practicing commercial real estate law at a firm or in-house legal department
Proven experience in leading contract review, drafting, negotiating, and risk assessment
Experience in general corporate legal matters including commercial leases and property acquisition and sales
Confident communicator and strong interpersonal skills; ability to convey complex legal concepts clearly and effectively
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high volume and progressive environment
