THE ROLE
We are seeking a motivated Senior Business Intelligence (BI) \& Data analyst with diverse technology and business experience and a proven background connecting data to business outcomes.
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced analytics and visualization professional to join a team of high-performing individuals and make a great impact in a start-up organization. Reporting directly to the Director, Data and Analytics, the Senior BI \& Data analyst will partner with business leaders and their teams to lead the design, development and implementation of critical analytics/business intelligence initiatives and projects that will contribute to strategic decision-making across the UPP.
This role is based in downtown Toronto in a hybrid work environment, allowing employees the flexibility to work remotely and in-office (minimum two days per week in-office).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior BI \& Data Analyst will be responsible for a variety of duties, including but not limited to the following:
- Contribute to the stakeholder requirements workshops and ensure alignment of the user stories to business objectives
- Support the strategic design, execution, and maintenance of the BI and visualization use cases
- Create and maintain interactive visualizations (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Google data studio, Looker, Qlik Sense, DOMO) through data interpretation and analysis, integrating various reporting
- Work closely with project/delivery managers to understand and design dashboards to meet their analytical requirements, including identifying and creating or enhancing critical metrics
- Ensure consistency of dashboards design across global business use cases
- Facilitate and coordinate with business source system administration teams on data architecture and direct system feeds
- Understand database structures and facilitate changes where required
- Oversee the publishing of dashboards (with refreshed data on a defined business need e.g., daily, weekly, quarterly, and annual basis)
- Assist with the preparation and development of reporting, presentations, and various materials for discussion at the executive level
- Build efficiencies in existing processes and execution of process improvement initiatives where possible
- Support the research, analysis, reporting and execution of data program initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS \& EXPERIENCE
- Undergraduate degree or higher post-secondary education in quantitative field of study (Math, Computer Science, Analytics, Statistics etc.)
- Minimum of 8 years of combined experience in a data visualization tools (e.g., DOMO, Microsoft Power BI, Tableau, Google data studio Looker, Qlik Sense) and Expert Excel skills
- Excellent proficiency in T-SQL
- Exceptionally strong work ethic and a high level of analytical capabilities, attention to detail \& problem-solving skills
- Team player with the ability to build strong relationships across the organization at all levels; and
- Strong understating of data modelling methodologies and best practices for data visualization techniques
NICE TO HAVE SKILLS
- Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, JSON, YAML, Shell Scripting, MDX, VBA
- Experience with statistical modeling in business analytics
- Experience in the business domains of Pensions, Investments, and Corporate Functions
- Experience with DOMO
- Experience with Google Cloud Platform and Big Query
- Understanding of Financial Reporting
