THE ROLE
A key contributor responsible for managing full-cycle accounting services and with expectations to supervise junior staff with progression while providing services to multiple external clients.
- Full-Cycle Accounting (40%)
- Financial Reporting (40%)
- Client Support (20%)
THE TASKS
Full-Cycle Accounting
- Execute complete accounting cycles for multiple client files simultaneously
- Review accounts receivable, accounts payable, and invoicing workflows
- Review detailed balance sheet and bank reconciliations
- Manage month-end closing processes including accruals and adjustments
- Review fixed asset registers and depreciation calculations
- Prepare and analyze cash flow statements and forecasts for client decision-making
- Implement and maintain internal controls for accounting processes
- Monitor and reconcile intercompany transactions across client entities
Financial Reporting
- Prepare comprehensive monthly financial statements under IFRS or US GAAP
- Manage government filings including CRA and regulatory compliance requirements
- Coordinate with external audit teams for reviews and year-end audits
- Perform detailed analysis and explanation of financial statement variances
- Handle MD\&A preparation for clients' management teams
- Prepare consolidated financial statements for clients with multiple entities
Client Support
- Address client inquiries and resolve accounting issues in a timely manner
- Coordinate deliverables with the internal team to ensure client deadlines are met

EXPECTATIONS TIMELINE
By Month 1
- Learn internal processes for client management and accounting workflows
- Shadow senior team members on client deliverables
- Understand role expectations and performance standards
By Month 3
- Independently prepare financial statements for assigned clients
- Develop understanding of client operations and requirements
- Demonstrate attention to detail and quality control capabilities
By Month 6
- Manage complete portfolio of client financial statements
- Handle government filings and CRA requirements with minimal supervision
- Successfully coordinate with external audit teams
- Begin supervising and reviewing work of 1-2 junior team members
By Month 12
- Demonstrate full proficiency in client file management
- Operate at full senior accountant level with strong client-facing capabilities
- Develop and implement standardized templates or processes that improve client deliverable quality
- Show progress in developing effective supervisory skills
THE SKILL SET
- Minimum 3 years of IFRS or US GAAP reporting experience
- CPA designation (Canadian or international)
- Strong attention to detail and quality control capabilities
- Proven ability to manage multiple simultaneous deadlines
