Location: On-site at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre Bayview Campus or the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario (25 Morton Shulman Ave, Toronto, ON M3M 0B1).
Job Overview
The Sunnybrook Research Institute, Department of Psychiatry, affiliated with the University of Toronto, is seeking an energetic and efficient Research Assistant in the Suicide Prevention Research Collaborative (SPRC) lab. The role involves working in areas of suicide prevention, mood disorders, and quality improvement. The candidate will report to Dr. Mark Sinyor and perform clinical research activities, including coordinating multiple research studies and clinical trials in a dynamic environment.
Qualifications
- An Honours bachelor's degree in psychology or related field, with at least 2 years of research experience in public health, epidemiology, psychology, or psychiatry preferred.
- Excellent academic writing, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Experience with research tasks such as protocol writing, recruitment, data collection, and data entry.
- Experience in chart reviews and database management.
- Competence with NVivo, SPSS, R, and REDCap software.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Fluent written and spoken Spanish is an asset.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will work on projects led by Dr. Sinyor, with responsibilities including:
- Retrospective chart review at the Office of the Chief Coroner.
- Organizing the Partnerships for Life initiative, liaising with international stakeholders.
- Supporting school-based trials, liaising with school administrators, managing consent, data collection, and analysis.
- Assessing media types and their effects on suicide rates.
- Performing other duties as assigned, with additional responsibilities possible depending on grant funding.
