Recruitment, hiring, management and reporting of Ministry funded Nursing initiatives (Clinical externs, SPEP, clinical scholars)

Manages department's annual operating expenditures within established budget

Proven ability to communicate highly complex information both orally and in writing to a range of stakeholders

Contributes to the corporate efforts and initiatives, as appropriate, to enhance SJHH's mission, vision

Contributes to corporate efforts and initiatives, as appropriate, to enhance SJHH's mission, values and goals, overseeing and monitoring annual goals and monthly outcomes

Represents the nursing professional practice internally on SJHH committees, as required, and SJHH in the external community at conferences, workshops, etc.

Fosters and actively shapes an environment that facilitates collaborative decision making, engagement, knowledge translation, evidence-informed practice, continuous learning, professional development, clinical inquiry, and evaluation/research

Contributes to the development and achievement of nursing and organizational strategic goals and initiatives, consistent with nursing and organizational vision and mission in collaboration with the Directors of Nursing Practice

Leads Nursing Practice Council

Functions as a liaison and expert resource, advisor and mentor to nursing staff, educators, managers, directors, human resources and occupational health and safety representatives, and other stakeholders regarding nursing professional practice issues; e.g. competency, capacity, accountability and professional behaviour, as they relate to hospital policy and regulatory standards and guidelines, and legislation.

Collaborates with Directors of Nursing Practice to ensure nursing staff education and development initiatives are consistent with best practices and regulations recommended by professional organizations

Assumes leadership roles for nursing initiatives that have practice, regulatory and/or staff development implications

Writes and submits reports to the College of Nurses of Ontario as required by regulations

Promotes, supports and facilitates research activities, and accounts for scholarly activities annually

Identifies departmental, programmatic and individual's education needs
-
Provides educational opportunities that promote personal and professional development of staff

Responsible for external funding submissions inclusive of ministry and academic grants where applicable
