SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Retail Assistant Managers, this role is responsible for selling products and providing the highest level of customer service at the Vancouver Aquarium retail and photo locations. The Sales Associates focus on generating sales by assisting customers, suggesting products that meet their needs, and processing transactions through the POS. As the first contact for guests, associates are responsible for capturing smiles and memories by selling souvenir photos and delivering excellent service. They also maintain cleanliness and professional presentation of the gift shop and photo areas.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Positively represent the Vancouver Aquarium through great service:
- Greet and assist customers enthusiastically and professionally in all gift shop/photo locations.
- Perform accurate sales transactions for cash, debit, and credit card payments.
- Organize, clean, restock, and maintain cleanliness in all gift shop/photo areas, ensuring stations and equipment are in good condition.
- Promote merchandise and photo package sales while providing excellent customer service.
- At photo locations, take, edit, and process digital photos efficiently and accurately.
- Provide general information about the Aquarium, Stanley Park, and the city to customers.
Conscious efforts to improve organization and processes:
- Demonstrate the organization's values and expected conduct.
- Support environmental impact reduction and greening initiatives through EMS protocols.
- Assist promptly in emergency protocols.
- Maintain safety standards.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Minimum 2 years of high-volume retail sales experience.
- 2 years of customer service experience or equivalent.
- Basic knowledge of camera operation and photo editing is an asset.
