What is the Opportunity?
- Support Data Risk Assessment in relation to all BU's processes and reports
- Need to be a proactive analyst with a strong analytical mindset and the ability to translate data insights into actionable compliance strategies.
- Perform Data Risk Analysis specifically for risk identification, evaluate controls, review and complete detail questionnaire to support RBC Units across the bank.
- Track and prioritize DRA for key business processes and Regulatory reports, utilizing the underlying CDO framework and guidelines of data governance
- Create and support repeatable, robust process that will meet audit and regulatory requirements to identify Data Risks and Controls for RBC's key processes/businesses. Seek out industry trends and organizational knowledge to understand alternative approaches / solutions to propose viable options
- Identify, capture and curate metadata associated with DRA (such as Risk Metrics, Data Classification, Risk Types, Control information, Owning Data Domain, vintage tags among other things) for key business processes and reports.
- Engage with key stakeholder (Process Owners) from GRM, Finance, Liquidity and other key business domains to gather relevant information
- Assist in gathering information about business processes, data flow, risks associated with reports/business process, and detail control information to manage the information management risk profile.
- Identifies opportunities for service improvements, as well as proposed options for improvements and facilitate implementation if required
- Manage and report on work status, including escalating execution risks in a timely manner
- Build individual technical and communication skills and participate in knowledge-sharing activities as they become available
- Gain and apply an in-depth understanding of data management, data governance, risk types, controls, and metadata tools and systems to support the definition and documentation of effective data elements.
- Work with the Chief Data Office and other Data Management Offices to support standards and best practices to improve data quality, participating in initiatives to raise awareness and drive improved data quality across the organization (e.g., Data Working Groups, Data Literacy projects).
What do you need to succeed? Must-have
- 2 years of experience in accounting, risk management, data management and/or business analysis
- Relevant experience with credit risk data, data quality principles, data control design, self-assessment of existing processes and systems
- Undergraduate degree in a numerical discipline, business administration, finance or a combination
- Good communications skills - verbal and written
Nice-to-have
- Self-starter, highly motivated, having a strong drive to achieve tangible results; ability to manage multiple competing priorities in times of stress
- Ability to analyze and comprehend complex financial products, reporting and data related issues.
- Familiarity with financial service regulatory requirements and guidelines (e.g. BCBS239, IFRS 9, CECL)
- Knowledge of SQL, Archer, Collibra, and IIPM.
