What is the opportunity?
As a Business Data Analyst within RBC Investor Services, you will work closely with the business and technology teams on data projects focused on value proposition, benefits articulation, and requirements elicitation. Key responsibilities include data discovery, mapping, analysis, creating wireframes, documentation, stakeholder engagement, and coordination with Project Management and Data Engineering teams throughout project delivery.
You will provide expertise in business, functional, and data analysis, managing stakeholder engagement across initiatives aligned with our corporate vision. We seek a passionate data management enthusiast and functional expert capable of supporting leadership by collaborating with stakeholders, clients, data engineers, and system owners to drive data transformation initiatives.
This role requires strong data analysis skills, effective communication, a strong work ethic, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Interpersonal, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with a proactive attitude and accountability, are essential.
What will you do?
- Engage in complex data initiatives, defining problem statements, assessing value, preparing business cases, and engaging stakeholders.
- Collaborate with business partners to define scope, analyze requirements, and make recommendations.
- Perform data discovery and analysis on core data products within RBC Investor Services applications and data stores.
- Coordinate with domain experts, scrum masters, and project managers to gather and document requirements, perform data mapping, and create wireframes.
- Work with developers to ensure business requirements are clearly articulated and aligned with strategic goals.
- Support project execution, including preparing test plans, coordinating user involvement, and UAT sign-off.
- Apply design thinking to understand and solve problems.
- Collaborate closely with business and technology stakeholders.
What do you need to succeed?
Must-have:
- 5+ years of experience in financial services, working with products such as Equities, Fixed Income, Foreign Exchange, and Derivatives.
- Strong understanding of data lifecycle, data quality, and PL/SQL.
- Experience with business analysis tools like data flow diagrams, relational data models, and process modeling.
- Experience with custodial or financial data requirements gathering and analysis.
- Excellent communication skills, with experience presenting to executives and facilitating sessions.
- Knowledge of data governance and stewardship, including data quality requirements.
- Master's degree in Business Administration (MBA) or equivalent experience.
Nice to have:
- Experience with Agile methodologies (SAFe), project management (PMP), or business analysis certifications (CBAP).
- Experience with Power BI and agile tools like Jira and Confluence.
- Experience with large-scale data lakes, data warehouses, and cloud solutions.
- Knowledge of GDPR and data policies.
