Rewarding, collaborative and lively workplace cultureTHE ROLE The Field Manager role is for an experienced agriculture professional seeking growth opportunities and supervisory responsibilities while assisting in the maintenance of over 7,000 acres of farmland - including asparagus, sweet corn, watermelon, cantaloupe, ginseng and other cash crops. They are responsible for planning crop planting and harvesting schedules, planning equipment maintenance, soil testing, pesticide spraying, and assisting with harvest reports.
The Field Manager will oversee the functions and schedules of the farm staff, ensuring that handling and packaging of produce meets quality standards and industry regulations. How You'll
Do It Preparing plans and schedules for planting and harvesting and ensuring staff understands expectations
Visiting the different divisions to inspect crops, harvesting procedure, perform tests on soil and water, and conduct pesticide spray and crop protection methods
Scheduling repairs, maintenance, and replacement of equipment and machinery
Ensure compliance with all Standard Operating Procedures pertaining to harvesting, packing, storing, and shipping of fresh produce.Ensure compliance with CFIA and USDA policies and procedures.ABOUT YOU Successful Scotlynn Candidates Have: Extensive previous experience in the produce industry is required working with commodities such as sweetcorn, watermelon, pumpkins, asparagus, and ginseng
Knowledge of farm equipment and proper maintenance is required
Pesticide License is required
Previous experience in a managerial role is preferred
Ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal) in English; ability to communication verbally in Spanish is an asset
Must be able to work independently and in a team setting
