Your Opportunity
The Electrical Distribution Designer is responsible for providing cost estimates and designs for underground and overhead electrical distribution projects. Reporting to the Team Lead, Distribution Design, you will communicate with clients and customers to establish service requirements, offering design solutions that meet their needs. You will coordinate with landowners, customers, and other departments to ensure effective project execution, designing facilities that are safe, cost-effective, compliant with codes, standards, and regulations.
Your Key Responsibilities
- Design distribution infrastructure to meet project requirements.
- Develop design solutions that comply with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
- Create project cost estimates and material lists.
- Manage external client relationships through effective communication.
- Monitor project progress and take corrective actions as needed.
- Travel and perform site visits as required.
- Identify safety or environmental concerns and initiate appropriate measures.
- Coordinate and facilitate approvals with third-party stakeholders.
- Provide technical guidance to customers, stakeholders, and external consultants.
- Support and mentor junior team members.
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
- Eligible or registered as an EIT in Canada (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team.
- Strong time management and prioritization skills.
- Demonstrated project management abilities.
- Knowledge of PLSCAD or SPIDAcalc is an asset.
- Valid Class 5 Driver's License.
Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Civil Engineering, or an Electrical Engineering technology diploma.
- Minimum 2 years of power distribution experience within North American utilities.
Typical office environment with computer work; field work may include exposure to elements including inclement weather.
