2025 Summer Student - Statistical Data Analyst - Research and Assessment Services
Thank you for your interest in the Summer Student - Research Analyst - Research and Assessment Services position with the York Region District School Board. This position is effective immediately and ends around August 2025.
Position Summary
In compliance with Board policies, this role involves developing data analysis plans, conducting advanced qualitative and quantitative statistical analysis, and drafting research reports to support data-driven decision making in the system and schools.
Major Responsibilities
- Develop data analysis plans and manage large datasets for research projects.
- Perform quality control checks to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Conduct advanced data analysis including multivariate testing, data mining, and modeling.
- Analyze data at various levels for planning and decision-making.
- Analyze survey data to understand issues relevant to the Board and stakeholders.
- Prepare research reports, manuscripts, and proposals; review educational research literature.
- Present findings through reports, visualizations, and presentations.
- Create and modify evaluation measures.
- Assist in designing surveys for stakeholders.
- Collaborate with team members and stakeholders.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Line of Responsibility
Reports to the Manager, Research Services.
Education, Experience, and Qualifications
- A four-year university degree in Statistics or related social sciences, including research methods and statistics training, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years of research experience.
- Proficiency in research design, statistical analysis, and modeling techniques.
- Experience in writing research reports and proposals.
- Excellent time management, communication, and presentation skills.
- Knowledge of Ontario curriculum and current educational resources.
- Proficiency in SPSS, Power BI, R, SQL, Python, and other relevant software.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently and in teams.
