Position summary
Department / Research Program: Maternal and Child Health Biobank
Under the direction of the immediate supervisor, participates in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments. Laboratory technicians conduct routine laboratory tests and set up, clean and maintain laboratory equipment. Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks according to established methodology. Prepares materials and equipment. Demonstrates techniques.
General Duties
• Participates in the execution of laboratory projects and experiments. Performs a variety of specialized technical tasks according to established methodology in fields such as biochemistry, histology, immunology and molecular biology,
• Prepares and sets up materials and equipment. Performs a variety of assays, analyses and tests such as tissue culture, molecular techniques, electrophoresis and histological procedures,
• Records results, performs calculations and compiles data. Maintains records and files,
• Ensures the cleanliness and safety of the work area,
• Keeps abreast of new developments in the field to update skills and knowledge,
• Uses a variety of equipment such as balances, pH meters, pipettors, laminar flow hoods, incubators, microscopes, centrifuges, thermocycler, phosphor imager, electrophoresis apparatus, cryostats and computers,
• Accomplishes any other related tasks as required by the immediate supervisor. #J-18808-Ljbffr
