Job Description Electrical Process Engineer Location Ottawa, ON K2M 1P6 :
Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled Electrical Process Engineer to join our dynamic R\&D team to deliver innovative instrument solutions that meet our customers needs. In this role, you will independently oversee electronics manufacturing while collaborating with the team to support the testing and transfer of products to production. The ideal candidate would be comfortable with system, schematics and layout design, as well as component selection, EOL replacement, troubleshooting manufacturing issues, and transitioning newly developed R\&D boards to production.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and assist with electronics manufacturing processes
- Collaborate with quality team to debug PCB and perform root cause analysis on electrical issues
- Provide support to suppliers on a variety of hardware related issues through email, teleconference, and on-site visits
- Perform minor PCB modifications as required including schematic and layout design
- Source and purchase electronic parts
- Maintain organized PCB revision files
- Train staff to properly handle and assemble hardware electronics while working efficiently and safely
- Manage CE certification process for new instruments (electrical certification)
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- >5 years professional experience in electronics manufacturing
- Worked in environment that designed and manufactured PCBs
- Experience working with vendors to troubleshoot PCB production issues (asset)
- Working knowledge of Altium design software or similar
- Experience with PCB assembly process
- Willingness to occasionally travel to vendor sites (within Ontario)
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to collaborate effectively within the team
- Demonstrated outstanding organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
