GENERAL SUMMARY
Reporting to the Director of Library Services, the Marketing \& Graphic Design Coordinator will support in the development and execution of marketing initiatives for the Squamish Public Library. The incumbent will be responsible for the timely design and production of user-friendly, effective, and appealing materials including posters, brochures, print and electronic newsletters, guides, signage, invitations, forms, reports, and various other materials - for web, social media, and print. The successful candidate will be a detail-oriented individual who is effective in both oral and written communication. Excellent customer service and collaborative team skills are essential to this role.
The Squamish Public Library seeks to be a forward-facing organization that is capable of rapid adjustments to changing circumstances. KEY RESPONSIBILITES
· Plans, designs, and creates a wide variety of marketing, promotional and communications materials and campaigns for print and web.
· Creates and send bi-weekly library email newsletter, works to increase subscriber base, and uses email metrics to increase click and opening rates.
· Communicates regularly with library staff on event bookings and programs to promote and market.
· Applies technical skillset to contribute to the creation of updated design standards for the library; reviews completed work for adherence to library templates and design standards.
· Identifies and pursues opportunities to promote library programs and services.
· Works with library staff to monitor and update the library website.
· Creates and manages content for social media platforms in accordance with the library's social media policy. Familiar with the use of social media metrics to increase effectiveness of social media campaigns.
· Maintains online community calendar and partners with Program \& Outreach Coordinator to update as required.
· Performs related duties as assigned by the Director of Library Services or designate.
Performs other duties as assigned which are directly related to the major responsibilities of the job
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS \& ABILITIES
· Displays a strong commitment to service excellence with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to deal with people in a professional and friendly manner
· Knowledge of principles and methods for promoting programs and services.
· Strong skills with Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite - including (but not limited to) Canva, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat.
· Ability to design and produce visually pleasing publications and marketing materials, and related documents using a variety of software.
· Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills; must possess the ability to plan, prioritize and perform multiple concurrent duties with deadlines.
· Must have the ability to work independently, have confidence in decision-marking, and be a self-starter.
· Social media management and content creation experience including on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
· Experience working with mail newsletter marketing and tools.
· Bonus: experience working with Constant Contact and Communico.
REQUIRED TRAINING, EDUCATION \& EXPERIENCE
· Post-secondary diploma in graphic design, communications, marketing, or a related field.
· 2 years' minimum related experience in communications including marketing, media relations, social media, and public relations.
· Knowledge of library policies, programs, services, and plans, and a broad knowledge of the community considered an asset.
· An original Police Information Check, including Vulnerable Sector Check, satisfactory to the employer will be required before starting in this position.
