Position Highlights
As an Energy Coordinator, you are a key member of our Energy & Environmental Sustainability (EES) Facilities Management team. You will report to Director of Energy and Emission within EES and will be responsible for technical leadership while supporting the various Energy and Carbon Emissions Management tasks for the EES portfolio.
You will coordinate a variety of energy management, sustainability and utility projects for Fraser health. We are looking for a driven individual to work with our stakeholders and partners to achieve energy and carbon emissions reduction targets and sustainability goals.

- Lead and Coordinate assigned energy and carbon emissions management/sustainability projects by scheduling project activity in consultation with the Energy Director, staff internal and external to the Organizations and suppliers in order to establish labour and material costs and availability.
- Prepare business reports, memos, proposals, business cases and presentations to the Energy Director, or other partners to secure approval or energy and carbon reduction projects.
- Assess energy and carbon emissions baselines and report on the effectiveness of various energy and carbon reduction initiatives.
- Collaborate with Energy Specialist in energy, utilities and emission data managing and reporting
- Coordinate the evaluation of project performance by consulting with EES, facilities staff and other stakeholders in the Organizations.
- Consult with user departments on project specifications/requirements including the interpretation of applicable drawings, material and labour costs; prepare and submit feedback to the Project team.
- Identify standard methodologies related to the technical, process, and behavioral aspects of energy and carbon emissions management
- Support the development of technical standards and guidelines to enable the integration of energy, carbon emissions and sustainability goals and best practices for new construction and renovation projects.
- Partner with Facilities Maintenance and Operations team to support building continuous optimization for designated facilities ensuring that the building systems operate efficiently
- Collaborate with the Energy Specialist to support assessments and studies of each facility identifying energy and carbon reduction projects.
- Coordinates the evaluation of energy and carbon emissions project performance by consulting with the EES team and other stakeholders in the Organizations, providing input as required; including audit of measurement and verification data..
You are a self-starter with demonstrated ability to lead multiple deadlines and priorities; solve problems; and apply technical knowledge to support energy projects from identification through to implementation.

Detailed OverviewResponsible for coordinating a variety of energy management, sustainability and utility projects for Fraser Health, Vancouver Coastal Health Authority, Provincial Health Service Authority and Providence Health Care (collectively, the "Organizations"); works with the Organizations' stakeholders to achieve energy management and sustainability goals and optimal energy use at the various sites through site improvements, due diligence on the performance of contracts and providing strategic information to support these processes; provides leadership and consultation to assigned project staff and communicates with staff to complete the assigned energy projects; acts as a contact with private sector project consultant, utility providers and internal user groups on project development contracts.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates and manages assigned energy management/sustainability projects by scheduling project activity in consultation with the Energy Manager, staff internal and external to the Organizations and suppliers in order to establish labour and materiel costs and availability; monitors activity to ensure adherence to applicable building and safety codes, by-laws and/or hospital procedures and specifications; monitors expenditures and prepares and submits reports on estimates/costs to the Energy Manager.
- Assesses energy and consumption baselines and reports on the effectiveness of various energy initiatives; identifies opportunities for energy conservation projects and makes recommendations to the Energy Manager.
- Coordinates the evaluation of energy project performance by consulting with the Energy Specialist, other Energy staff and other staff in the Organizations and providing input as required; tracks and audit utility billing to ensure accuracy and follows up on potential errors.
- Consults with user departments on project specifications/requirements including the interpretation of applicable drawings, material and labour costs; prepares and submits reports to the Energy Manager.
- Monitors preventative maintenance programs for designated facilities ensuring that the maintenance and repair of systems meet efficient operational standards and conform to energy performance standards.
- Collaborates with the Energy Specialist with initial and on-going energy assessments of each facility identifying energy projects and undertaking studies of energy consumption and improvements.
- Collaborates with the Energy Specialist with the enforcement of effective energy management conservation practices ensuring budget targets are met without compromising patient, employee health and safety.
- Monitors equipment, materials and projects to confirm with applicable codes and by-laws; coordinates the implementation of projects with applicable stakeholders and staff to ensure project adherence and action timelines; provides management support to the Energy Manager in other related energy efficiency and conservation-related initiatives and projects.
QualificationsEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Building, Construction Management, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management or equivalent level of education, plus a certificate in sustainable energy management, supplemented with three (3) to five (5) years' recent related experience in energy management in a large complex organization, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
