The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine is currently seeking a Full-time Limited Term Accreditation & Quality Assurance Specialist for approximately 24 months.

The position of Accreditation and Quality Assurance Specialist reports to the Business Manager.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
Accreditation Preparation, Quality Assurance, and Compliance
- Lead the preparation of accreditation self-studies, interim reports, and responses to AVMA COE or other relevant accrediting bodies
- Continuously monitors progress of quality assurance projects toward defined goals and objectives, supporting ongoing accreditation and continuous improvement efforts
- Reviews, verifies, and ensures the timely and accurate submission of required quality assurance documents and other institutional reports
- Interprets findings from quality assurance initiatives; analyzes and compiles both statistical and narrative data to guide strategic decisions
- Organize and coordinate mock and official accreditation site visits, including logistics, documentation, and stakeholder preparation
- Prepares formal responses to accreditation review findings and recommendations
- Leads or supports the implementation of recommendations resulting from accreditation reviews to ensure compliance and continuous institutional improvement
- Monitor compliance with AVMA COE, or other, accreditation standards and ensure institutional awareness and adherence
- Track and communicate changes in accreditation requirements, veterinary education standards, and regulatory trends
- Maintain organized records of accreditation processes, communications, findings, and corrective actions
- Provide consultation to internal partners for translating standards into practical solutions
- Provide training and guidance to internal partners on accreditation policies and compliance expectations
- Communicate and educate partners on policies, procedures, and application of existing and upcoming accreditation standards
- Collaborate with faculty, clinical staff, and administration to gather input and documentation for accreditation efforts
- Quality Assurance Provides support in the conceptualization, design, and implementation of new academic programs, working collaboratively with faculty and partners to ensure alignment with strategic goals, academic standards, and emerging disciplinary trends
- Collaborates with faculty to regularly review and update curriculum to ensure alignment with academic standards, emerging trends, and institutional objectives, Partner Engagement and Education
Data Management and Quality Improvement
- Collect, analyze, and maintain accurate academic, clinical, and institutional data to support reporting and decision-making
- Support continuous quality improvement initiatives tied to curriculum development, student outcomes, clinical competencies, and faculty development
- Provide feedback and participate in continuous improvement of internal administrative policies, processes, and procedures
Consultation and External Engagement
- Provide expert consultation to external organizations for the development of accredited programs
- Provide expert education to external organizations on current and upcoming accreditation standards
Budget Management
- Work closely with the Senior Director of Operations to manage spending in alignment with the approved budget and provide quarterly updates on the status of the spending plan
- The duties and responsibilities outlined above do not represent a full list of the tasks the post holder will be expected to perform. It is also recognized that the duties of all posts are subject to change from time to time. Alterations to duties and responsibilities and performance of similar tasks within the scope of and at the same level will be expected
Qualifications / Requirements:
- Master's degree or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience will be considered (preferably in Veterinary Science, Education, Public Administration, or a related field)
- Minimum 2 - 4 years of experience in accreditation, compliance, or quality assurance, preferably within veterinary or medical education
- Familiarity with AVMA COE standards and veterinary accreditation processes is highly desirable
- Positive attitude and demonstrated ability to be a collaborative team member
- Good judgment and initiative, tact and diplomacy in dealing with the frequent interactions with medical professions, staff, University departments and external organizations
- Exceptional organizational, analytical, and project management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Experience with data management and institutional reporting tools
- Experience managing a budget and developing reports is an asset
- Ability to collaborate effectively with academic, administrative, and clinical teams
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Professional (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint)
- Familiarity with University of Calgary/Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and/or Veterinary services or settings is an asset
