Eagle Builders is a local, family-owned, and operated manufacturing and construction company rooted in Christian beliefs and values. We specialize in the design, engineering, fabrication and building of precast concrete structures. We are looking for a dedicated and passionate safety individual to join our team and assist on our construction sites across Western Canada.
Position Summary
This position reports directly to the Safety Manager and is responsible for the development, execution, and oversight of safety practices across our jobsites in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba. As a safety leader, you will be expected to communicate clearly and effectively—both verbally and in writing—while fostering strong relationships with site representatives, operations personnel, and team members.
This is a full-time role that involves frequent travel, adaptability, and a determined, proactive mindset. The ideal candidate will possess an NSCO designation (preferred), along with certifications in WHMIS Train-the-Trainer, Fall Protection, Aerial Work Platform, and Standard First Aid.
Job Description
Assist in implementing and developing all aspects of the safety program for the site designate, field crews, and sub-trades
Prepare and conduct safety meetings to increase awareness on specific safety hazards and processes
Offer guidance and support to sub-trade companies regarding their safety programs and address any safety-related inquiries or concerns
Prequalify potential sub-trade companies using Eagles guidelines
Conduct safety committee meetings at required intervals for projects that meet the requirements
Safety manual review, making SJP and SWP to maximize safety of critical tasks, new Eagle Builders field orientations and sub-trade orientations, train new workers in WHMIS, complete and follow-up onsite inspections conducted, hazard assessments and keeping updated and current with all aspects of safety
Update and ensure statistic/trends/paperwork is tracked and entered into our system
Update SDS binders as needed
Provide daily supervision of both Eagle Builders’ personnel and sub-trades to correct unsafe practices and promote a culture of safety awareness and accountability on site
Ensure first aid supplies are readily available and fully stocked, and that fire extinguishers are available and in proper working condition. Verify the availability and readiness of any additional emergency equipment as required
Ensure field vehicles are stocked with essential safety supplies, including respirators, filters, hearing protection, and fall protection gear. Confirm appropriate safety equipment is also available in job boxes and sea-cans
Conduct thorough investigations and follow-up on all incidents, including first aid reports and near-miss events
Make safety packages and maintain prime contractor jobs
Coordinate with project managers and site designates about job startups, construction phases and project end to ensure safety compliance at each interval
Coordinate and schedule safety training sessions for employees and sub-trades
Verify that all subcontractors maintain current WCB clearance and valid certificates of insurance
Ensure compliance with company safety policies and procedures
Requirements
NCSO Designation – completed or currently in progress
WHMIS 2015 Train the trainer certification, Fall Protection, Aerial Lift and Standard First Aid certifications
Valid Class 5 drivers’ license and acceptable abstract
Minimum 44 hours per week, must be flexible and willing to work overtime
Reliable and available to work away from home Monday-Friday, occasional Saturday
Proficient in both verbal and written English communication
Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Experience in writing reports and policies for health and safety
Ability to maintain effective work relationships
Outstanding organization skills
Able to work in a fast-paced environment with the attention to detail and ability to multi-task
Follow company safety policies and procedures
Local to or willing to relocate to Central Alberta
Assets
General construction knowledge or background
Knowledge of Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan OH&S, WHMIS, WCB and related legislation
Understanding of SiteDocs or related safety software
