We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized VOE & CPA Verification Specialist to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of key documentation on bank statement and P&L-based loans. The ideal candidate will be responsible for verifying employment information (VOE) and conducting outbound calls to CPA offices to confirm the authenticity of CPA letters used to support borrower income.
Key Responsibilities:
Contact employers to complete verbal or written Verification of Employment (VOE) for borrowers as required per loan program guidelines.
Call CPA offices to verify that CPA letters—used to support borrower-prepared P&Ls—were in fact issued and signed by the licensed professional listed.
Confirm the CPA’s license number, office contact information, and relationship to the borrower.
Document all verification attempts and outcomes in the loan file and internal systems with clear, auditable notes.
Flag any discrepancies or red flags to the Underwriting or Credit Risk teams for further review.
Work collaboratively with processors, underwriters, and credit analysts to ensure all documentation meets investor and company guidelines.
Maintain service level expectations for turn times and communication responsiveness.
Protect borrower privacy and maintain strict adherence to compliance and data security standards.
Requirements
1–2 years of experience in mortgage operations, preferably in VOE processing or income verification.
Understanding of non-QM loan programs, especially P&L and bank statement documentation, is a plus.
Excellent verbal communication skills and confidence making outbound calls.
Strong attention to detail and ability to spot inconsistencies in documentation.
Experience working in Encompass or other LOS platforms preferred.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high accuracy and professionalism.
