Knappett Industries (2006) Ltd. is a privately owned construction company with operations bases in Nanaimo, Courtenay, Port Alberni and Fort St. John, BC. Since commencing operations in 1988, Knappett has grown to be a leading provider of civil construction services for major infrastructure, residential subdivision development, underground utility installation & replacement, road building, land clearing projects in British Columbia. Responsibilities:
Follow all safety protocols and contribute to the success of the safety program
Cut pipes to required lengths
Align and position pipes to prepare them for fusing
Connect pipe pieces and seal joints using provided material
Install sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems
Lay out pipe routes, following specifications or blueprints, and coordinating layouts with supervisor
Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers
Requirements:
Mathematical ability to calculate grades slopes, etc.
Ability to read and interpret plans and specification.
3+ years’ experience pipe laying in civil construction
Professional demeanour when dealing with the public
Able to work outside in all-weather at all times of the year
Able to do extensive physical labour
Valid provincial driver’s license
Assets:
Recent working experience in similar role
First aid training
This position is compensated at an hourly rate. Employees are eligible for enrollment in our company benefits package following successful completion of a three month probationary period.
