Black & McDonald’s Facilities Management & Operations team in BC is growing! The Building Operator is located at Kelowna General Hospital in Kelowna, BC and reports directly to the Facility Manager.
Under specific direction, the FMO Building Operator responds to tenant requests, performs preventive maintenance inspections, and minor repairs, to ensure continuing operation. This position involves working a rotating 12 hour shift schedule (two days on, two nights on, four days off). The Building Operator will fulfill day to day tasks in a timely manner ensuring that the building operates safely and efficiently. The position also requires compliance with Black & McDonald codes of conduct, health, safety and environmental policies and safe work practices along with any client specific protocol.
Respond to tenant requests.
Perform shift tours and log readings
Perform preventative maintenance, cleaning, painting
Perform minor repairs including: faucets, sinks, clear toilets and drains, cleaning grease traps and sumps, replace lamps, reset breakers
Maintain the cleanliness of all shops and mechanical rooms
Observe and implement safe work practices
Other duties as assigned

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
4th class power engineer certificate preferred
Other trade certificates would be an asset
WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Building operations experience preferred
Basic knowledge and/or experience in building automated systems and HVAC systems
SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to speak, read & write in English
Excellent verbal and written communications skills required

Expected compensation for this role is a starting pay range between $36.33-45.42/hour in accordance with union rates (dependent on skills and experience and trade certifications).
