ERM is hiring a Field Biologist to conduct wildlife surveys in British Columbia. This role is a temporary contract position. Successful candidates must be flexible and responsive to a challenging and changing work environment where schedules, site locations, and tasks fluctuate according to the needs of the project. The role of a wildlife Field Biologist requires technical skills, as well as strong organizational and communication skills. This is a full-time, limited-term role for up to two weeks. RESPONSIBILITIES: Field biologist position to conduct surveys for a project near Campbell River, BC. Work locations are often remote and requires field biologist to work independently. Other special status species surveys and monitoring may be required, based on available skills. Wildlife (avian and amphibian) data collection. Navigating remote locations with GPS, compass, and maps. Daily reporting and survey report compilation. Other duties as assigned or required. Compliance with ERM’s rigorous health and safety programs. REQUIREMENTS: Bachelors or Masters in Science, Environmental Biology of related field. 5+ years of Avian Biology experience Familiarity with the following surveys for the following wildlife species: songbird point count, common nighthawk, and amphibian visual search surveys. Familiarity with nesting bird survey protocols and/or general bird identification skills required. Ability to work safely outdoors in variable weather conditions and on challenging terrain. Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health and Safety protocols. Working knowledge of GPS technologies and map interpretation skills Effective communication, time management, and organization skills. Experience recording/writing detailed technical data. Able to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision. Willingness to travel to sites that require overnight stays, as needed, to support fieldwork at sites outside of immediate vicinity. Valid driver’s license and good driving record. Valid First Aid Certificate. Pay Transparency: For the Field Biologist position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $69,867 – $94,770, $33.58/hr – $45.56/hr CAD, limited-term, non-exempt. An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where employee’s fall outside of the range based on the factors noted above. This job may be eligible for bonus pay (casual and fixed term/Flexforce employees are NOT bonus eligible).
