Veterinary Purchasing Co. Ltd. (VP) located in St. Marys, Ontario, a 25-minute drive from North London, is the largest Veterinary Supplier in Canada. Our primary purpose is to ensure that Veterinarians have the supplies they need to provide healthcare to all types of animals. Be a part of the Supply Chain Industry and join our team. We are currently looking for like-minded individuals to join our Finance team in an Accounts Payable Clerk role.
Accounts Payable Clerk
This is a full-time 6-month contract position reporting to the Financial Controller. The successful candidate will perform various accounting and administrative tasks to ensure efficient, timely, and accurate entry of financial transactions related to accounts payable.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Obtaining approvals, coding, and entering invoices.
Processing payments, reconciling supplier statements, and maintaining AP and filing system.
Input information into the Accounts Payable database.
Monitor available discounts and recommend payments as appropriate.
Prepare cheques, send out backup to Vendors paid by Electronic Funds Transfer.
Reconcile accounts payable and prepare monthly reports.
Calculate employee cash sales for payroll deduction.
Processing and analysis of invoices and payments to third-party freight carriers.
Ensure accuracy of shipping charges and bill out as appropriate.
Understand and follow all applicable standard operating procedures as required.
Communicate with vendors and respond to inquiries, and resolve discrepancies.
Reconcile ATS bills and order supplies for clinics.
Assist with various accounting and administrative duties, including data entry and filing.
Other duties as assigned.
Health & Safety
Works in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
Report any health & safety violations or hazards to manager.
Good manufacturing practices:
Follow and understand all relevant Standard Operating Procedures with respect to Good Manufacturing Practices.
Skills and knowledge required:
Post-secondary diploma/certificate in accounting. Accounting degree or working towards considered an asset.
3+ years’ experience in Accounts Payable or equivalent.
Good accounting knowledge and financial reporting practices.
Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong analytical, problem-solving solving and decision-making skills.
Proven negotiating / conflict resolution skills.
Ability to organize and manage time effectively.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to multitask and meet tight deadlines.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
Salary is commensurate with experience.
Schedule:
Monday to Friday 8:30 am to 5 pm
