The successful candidate will work within multidisciplinary teams on a variety of challenging and rewarding projects, contributing significantly to the field of geotechnical engineering. This role offers an excellent opportunity to further develop both technical expertise and project management skills in a collaborative, supportive environment.Projects may include the design and rehabilitation of roads, buildings, hydraulic structures, slope stabilization, soil dynamics, and temporary and permanent retaining structures. You will have the opportunity to work with both public and private sector clients. While the focus is on Ontario-based projects, opportunities may arise to contribute to work across other regions of Canada.We offer a flexible hybrid work model, enabling a mix of remote and office-based work in Mississauga or Bowmanville, allowing you to balance your professional and personal commitments.Primary Responsibilities: Plan, coordinate, and supervise geotechnical field investigations, including borehole drilling, test pits, in situ testing, and laboratory testing programs.Evaluate geological and geotechnical data to assess the characteristics and behavior of soil and rock masses at construction sites, determining stability, load-bearing capacity, and settlement characteristics.Analyze field and laboratory data to develop geotechnical engineering recommendations.Prepare technical reports and memos, including foundation design recommendations, slope stability assessments, excavation and backfill guidelines, and groundwater observations.Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams to meet project objectives, schedules and budgets.Provide technical input during design and construction phases.Ensure compliance with applicable standards, codes, and health & safety regulations.Mentor junior staff and support their technical development.Support the inspection and assessment of concrete and earth dams, including safety upgrades.Contribute to the development of detailed geotechnical designs, technical drawings and construction specifications, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.Prepare bid documents in response to internal and external requests for proposals.Collaborate with draftspersons to prepare plans and specifications for earthworks, slope stabilization, erosion protection, etc.QualificationsA degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a focus on Geotechnical Engineering (Post-graduate degree is considered an asset).Minimum of five (5) years of experience in Geotechnical Engineering, preferably in a consulting environment, with a proven track record of working on complex studies and collaborating on multidisciplinary projects.Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in Ontario, or eligibility for registration with the Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).Proven experience leading field investigations and preparing geotechnical reports.Proficiency of geotechnical software applications for slope stability, drainage, and finite element analysis.Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, including geotechnical and geological engineers, as well as environmental specialists.Solid understanding of soil mechanics, foundation design, and construction techniques.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects independently.Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to project sites.Assets:Experience in pavement structure evaluation and design.Familiarity with Ontario Provincial Standards (OPS), MTO guidelines, and municipal design standards.Additional InformationWhy choose CIMA+?
