Employee Type: Regular The HR Generalist is responsible for a wide range of duties, including recruitment, employee relations, training and development, policy development, and HR administration. The HR Generalist collaborates with management and employees to foster a positive work environment and ensure compliance with company policies and applicable employment laws. Job Description: Essential Duties: Lead external recruitment efforts, to include developing and maintaining positive relationships with local K-12 school and college administration. Coordinate and attend school events and provide classroom presentations Represent Coteau at community, recruitment, and college career events Plan and participate in all mine site activities that encourage positive employee relations Assist in developing and updating policies and procedures Foster positive employee relations and maintain a work environment based on dignity and respect Drive company vehicle on mine site to meet with employees at their assigned locations. Drive company vehicle on public roads to attend off-site recruitment and education events Facilitate training to supervisors and fill-in supervisors related to HR topics Protect sensitive and confidential information Coordinate college sponsorship programs Perform job duties in accordance with MSHA law and regulations, established company safety procedures, and state and federal regulations Other Duties & Responsibilities: Assist with recruiting efforts, to include advertising, screening and interviewing candidates Assist with the coordination of employee appreciation events Assist with annual open enrollment Maintain a strong working relationship with mine site employees and vendors Complies with all employment laws, rules and regulations and assists in keeping the Company in compliance Perform other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong knowledge of positive employee relations practices Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all employees Strong verbal and written communication skills Knowledge of, and sensitivity to, the value systems of others Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information and situations Basic knowledge of operating computer software such as Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) as well as the HRIS (Workday) Ability to spend approximately 25% of time in the field Good analytical ability, problem-solving, presentation and organizational skills Knowledge of MSHA regulations and safety practices Minimum Requirements: A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Education, or related field or four years of equivalent work-related experience. Five years of mining experience in supervision or a human resources related field can be substituted for the Bachelor’s degree.
