Position Summary As a member of a multi-national Hardware Team, the Intermediate Hardware Engineer will be paramount in the design, test and support of embedded microprocessor-based circuit designs, targeting a portfolio of products responsible for securing and protecting high value, sensitive data. The intermediate hardware engineer will collaboratively drive innovative and bespoke hardware designs to meet the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s data protection needs. The successful candidate will drive PCB circuit designs, improve engineering processes and work with multiple teams to develop high quality, highly reliable hardware. Key Areas of Responsibility • Review Functional Specifications and concept documents. • Use out-of-the-box thinking and propose innovative solutions to meet product requirements. • Select components based on performance, availability, cost and environmental restrictions. • Implement digital and analog circuit designs to meet requirements. • Implement high-speed digital PCB designs. • Actively participate in schematic and PCB design reviews. • Develop and maintain schematic and PCB component libraries. • Develop and author test plans to validate hardware designs meet requirements. Conduct testing of hardware. • Assess and drive improvements to engineering processes. • Work collaboratively with the broader hardware team on all aspects of the design cycle. Basic Qualifications • B.A.Sc or B.Eng in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering. • 5+ years of relevant work experience designing embedded hardware. • Knowledge of embedded microprocessor design. • Familiar with high-speed digital and analog circuit design techniques. • Knowledge of memory technologies and communication protocols (Ethernet, PCI Express, USB). • Experience in designing multi-layered, high-speed printed circuit board. • Hands-on test, debug and verification experience using Oscilloscopes, Protocol Analyzers and In-Circuit Emulators. • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. • Ability to respond quickly to changes and work effectively under deadlines. • Fluent written and spoken English is essential. Other experience that is preferred, • Experience with OrCAD and/or Altium CAD software. • Experience with Verilog and/or VHDL design and simulation. • Knowledge of mechanical design principles. • Knowledge of regulatory compliance standards. • Knowledge of the Scaled Agile Framework. • Knowledge of collaborative and issue tracking tools such as Confluence and Jira.
