The Opportunity
The Student Support Assistant (SSA) is a polished professional providing outstanding service when handling all aspects of the Learner experience, in person, over the phone, mail, online, and email. As an integral member of the Office of the Registrar, this SSA is responsible for the ongoing maintenance of student records. This individual will also be responsible for assisting and advising students, prospective students, members of the public, and academic staff on the established policies and procedures impacting the student academic record. Essential to this position is the ability to analyze, problem-solve and communicate issues relating to the academic record of any learner from point of application through to graduation.
In partnership with the Welcome Centre, the OTR is working to deliver a coordinated service experience. This includes triaging inquiries through the Welcome Centre to ensure students are guided to the appropriate department or service channel. This joint initiative enhances our ability to meet students where they are and provide timely, relevant, and seamless support.
The Welcome Centre is a centralized hub designed to enhance the student experience by providing seamless access to a wide range of services and support. Currently operating through pop-up locations during key academic periods, the Welcome Centre aims to connect students with the resources they need, from admissions assistance to academic advising. It serves as the first point of contact for prospective and current students, ensuring they receive timely and relevant information to support their educational journey.

The Role

Provide triaged support through the Welcome Centre or OTR.

Support the Welcome Centre’s mission to connect students and visitors to service hubs.

Understand the student life cycle and its impact on enrollments.
Become subject matter experts in specific aspects of the student cycle.
Demonstrate excellence in communication and service delivery to influence prospective students’ enrollment decisions.
Qualifications & Experience
MUST be a current SAIT student, attending classes in Fall 2025 and Winter 2026 semesters. Proof of registration will be required prior to hiring.
Proficiency in MS Office 365, Banner, Freshdesk, Cisco, and related technology.
Knowledge of FOIP regulations, confidentiality, and good note-taking practices.
Compliance with SAIT safety guidelines, Job Hazard Analysis, and Safety Policy HS.1.1.
Effective communication, de-escalation, and conflict resolution skills.
Strong problem-solving, investigation skills, and attention to detail.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Time management skills to balance academic and work commitments.
