The beautifully landscaped grounds include gardens, courtyards, a walking path, outdoor seating, and a gazebo. Sun Parlor Home focuses on long-term care that prioritizes residents’ well-being, with a strong emphasis on life enrichment activities. As a not-for-profit, municipally owned, facility, it offers 206 licensed beds in private and semi-private rooms. For more than 100 years, Sun Parlor Home has been dedicated to serving the residents of Essex County, guided by its mission “to be an inspirational home for all people within our changing community that is compassionate, innovative, and fosters purpose and dignity.”
What You’ll Do
As the Ward Clerk, you welcome visitors to the Home, address their questions, and provide necessary information. You coordinate with staff to arrange shift replacements in line with collective agreements and manage all incoming phone calls, directing them to the appropriate parties. Your responsibilities also include photocopying, data entry, preparing documents, and filing. Additionally, you submit lab work for processing and respond quickly to emergency codes and panic alarms when needed.
What you Bring
Education and Commitment to Growth
Successful completion of post-secondary education in Office Administration, Medical Reception or related field of study or equivalent experience in a similar field.
Experience and Expertise:
1 year related experience with the demonstrated ability to function independently with the capability of identifying problems, establishing priorities and resolving issues in an efficient and effective manner
Skills and Abilities:
Demonstrated experience with automated systems - computer knowledge and office equipment, i.e. typing skills and must pass clerical testing
Other Requirements:
Must be available to work all shifts including weekends and holidays
What We are Offering
As a CUPE 860 position we are offering $26.16 per hour with a step progression to $28.63 per hour plus an additional 12% of their regular rate of pay in- lieu of benefits for part time employees. We also offer to option to participate in the defined benefit plan of the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (O.M.E.R.S.) is a pension system sought by many.
