What You'll Do: Shape the Future of Optical Technology As an Optical Components Test Engineer, you will be instrumental in developing and supporting the critical tests and automation that ensure the quality and performance of Ciena's cutting-edge optical components. You'll be at the heart of innovation, working with both hardware and software to bring these essential technologies to life. Here's a glimpse of your impact: Optimize and Automate: Validate and enhance existing test stations, documenting best practices and automating processes to improve efficiency. Drive Innovation: Provide technical insights for test instrument selection and station design. Improve Performance: Lead continuous improvement initiatives to boost product yields, reduce test times, and minimize costs. Solve Complex Challenges: Develop and refine fault isolation and troubleshooting tools for both engineers and operators. Scale for Success: Support production scaling, qualification activities, and ensure smooth manufacturing processes. Analyze and Improve: Conduct failure analysis, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to ensure product excellence. Collaborate Globally: Support our contract manufacturing partners to test prototype, pre-production, and production runs. Desired Characteristics: Team player who can effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams around the world Must be reliable and able to work in a fast-paced environment Self-motivated, well-organized, and willingness to learn Assertiveness to drive our contract manufacturer engineers/technicians Excellent written and verbal communication skills; fluent English (Bilingual: English/French is desirable) Required Skills: BS or MS degree Physics, Electronics/Electrical Engineering and/or Computer Science MATLAB experience, C# and/or python experience is an asset. Experience using test instruments such as VOA, Optical Power Meter, OSA, Polarization Controller, PNA, etc. Database, data analysis tool expertise Assets: Open to travelling to Asia Some prior optical test experience, fiber optics preferred. Technical understanding of InP and SiPhot optical components testing and manufacturing processes Pay Range: The salary range for this role in Canada is $62, 700 - $123, 100 Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available. Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
