This role is based out of Dentalcorp's Toronto Support Centre (181 Bay Street). You will work 4 days in office Mondays through Thursdays, and 1 day from home on Fridays. Reporting to the Director of Finance, Shared Services, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the accurate and efficient operation of the Workday Payroll function. This involves overseeing the bi-weekly preparation, documentation, and disbursement of payroll in accordance with applicable government legislation for a multi-province Canadian payroll. The Senior Payroll Manager also collaborates with partners in HR, Total Rewards, IT and Operations to support streamlined processes and ensure payroll data integrity. You are a leader who has proven experience effectively managing a team and are driven by excellence. In this role, you will Partner with the Director, Finance Shared Services to develop and execute payroll strategy, addressing challenges and opportunities with data-driven solutions. Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing payroll team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence. Oversee end-to-end bi-weekly payroll processing for Canada and multi-state U.S. employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely issue resolution. Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll filings (T4, W-2, 941, RL-1, etc.), remittances, and reconciliations. Ensure accurate and timely distribution of employee tax documents (T4, T4A, PIER, etc.). Serve as the go-to Workday Payroll expert, collaborating with system administrators and IT to troubleshoot issues, implement enhancements, and optimize processes. Drive post-implementation improvements, ensuring Workday Payroll integrates seamlessly with NetSuite for costing and accruals. Develop and maintain best practices for payroll reporting, data integrity, and system efficiency. Provide timely, customer-focused responses to payroll inquiries, balancing efficiency with exceptional service. Support audits and compliance by preparing payroll data for internal/external auditors and regulatory agencies. Champion process improvements, leveraging technology and automation to enhance payroll operations. What we're looking for 5+ years of payroll leadership experience, including 4+ years managing teams in a fast-paced environment. Deep expertise in Workday Payroll (3+ years hands-on experience), including configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization. Strong knowledge of Canadian and U.S. payroll regulations (multi-state tax, FLSA, statutory filings). Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or Payroll Management Certificate (preferred). Analytical mindset—ability to translate data into actionable insights. Collaborative approach, working effectively with Finance, HR, and IT teams. High integrity, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
