The Commercial Rear/Side Load Driver will be responsible for safely, efficiently, and courteously providing waste removal services to commercial customers. The driver will collect solid waste or recyclables from commercial buildings, and transporting to post-collection facilities. Key Responsibilities: Operate commercial waste/recycling vehicles (side-load and/or rear-load trucks) and related equipment to collect solid waste and recyclables on assigned routes. Load materials into the truck and operate compaction equipment safely and efficiently. Perform daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections, complete required reports and documentation. Report vehicle mechanical issues immediately to supervisors and mechanics. Maintain route quality standards and comply with all safety regulations and company policies. Keep the vehicle clean, both inside and out. Identify, tag, and remove prohibited waste items from collection. Manage helpers when assigned. Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) and uniform at all times. Maintain professionalism in appearance and interactions with customers and the public. Work closely with supervisors to optimize route efficiency. Attend safety and branch meetings, and be available for overtime as needed. Perform additional duties as assigned by management. Requirements: High school diploma or GED preferred. Valid Class 3 Commercial Driver's License. Minimum one year of commercial driving experience. Ability to meet safety-sensitive function criteria. Proven ability to safely operate trucks and equipment. Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies: Knowledge of truck components and basic maintenance for safe operation. Skilled in maneuvering trucks, including backing up up to 120 feet using mirrors. Ability to identify unacceptable waste, including hazardous materials. Strong communication skills with internal teams and customers. Ability to read, write, and understand documents and maps. Flexible and open to change, with a focus on continuous improvement. Physically capable of lifting, pushing, pulling, or carrying objects up to 50 pounds repetitively. Coordination of multiple limbs while operating equipment. Strict adherence to safety policies and procedures. Physical/Mental Demands: Ability to stand, walk, reach, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, hear, climb, balance, and smell. Visual acuity including close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment. Ability to lift/move objects from 10 to 100 pounds as required. Up to 75% sitting while driving. Ability to work in loud environments. Working Conditions: Frequent exposure to loud noise, humidity, weather extremes, mechanical parts, vibrations, chemicals, fumes, and airborne particles. Outdoor work environment nearly 100% of the time. Continuous travel on routes away from the branch. Constant interaction with motor vehicle traffic. Typically loud working conditions. Why Join Us?
